Rounds 1-2 Results | Final Round Live Scoring
SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Lucas Mota led the Kennesaw State men's golf team through the opening 36 holes of the J.T. Poston Invitational at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley on Monday.
"Today was a long day on the course but the team stayed focused and disciplined throughout the two rounds," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We are showing some great potential as some of the rounds are getting well under par and all the counting scores around par. If we can keep the momentum throughout the day, we have a really low team score coming soon. I'm especially proud of our discipline today on approach shots and the work that has been put in lately to sharpen putting and short game."
The Owls are tied for sixth and carded their two lowest rounds of the season on a par-71 course. KSU opened with a 4-under par 280 in round one and finished with a 1-under par 283 in round two. South Carolina leads the 14-team field at 21-under par 547.
Mota recorded rounds of 3-under par 68 and 1-under par 70 and is tied for 12
th at 4-under par 138. He rolled in 21 pars and 10 birdies during his opening 36 holes.
Brock Healy continued his strong start to the season on Monday. The senior posted rounds of 2-under par 69 and 1-under par 70 and is tied for 17
th. Healy made five birdies in each of his rounds on Monday.
Takafumi Shimoji (72-71) and
Luke Phillips (71-72) are tied for 40
th at 1-over par 143.
Joseph Byrne (74-83) is tied for 83
rd.
The final round of the J.T. Poston Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28. KSU will be paired with Western Carolina and Belmont with tee times set to go every nine minutes from 9:20 – 9:56 a.m.
