EUGENE, Ore. – Jack Rhea finished 10th in the men's pole vault final at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field on Wednesday.
"Jack had a great finish to an amazing season today," associate head coach
Jaymes Talkington said. "After breaking both the outdoor and indoor school and conference records this year, it was nice to see him become a national level pole vaulter by becoming an All-American today. I am excited to see what he does next year."
The finish earned him Second Team All-America honors. He is the first athlete from KSU and the ASUN Conference to place in the men's pole vault.
After failing on his first two attempts, Rhea was able to clear the opening bar of 5.15m (16'10.75"). He would clear the second bar at 5.30m (17'4.50") on his second attempt. He came up just short in his three attempts with the bar at 5.45m (17'10.5").
The senior finished the outdoor season with seven top-10 finishes including a pair of victories. He also set the KSU school record and the ASUN Conference Championship record in the pole vault this season.
