Pair of Owls Named to ASUN Men's Outdoor All-Academic Team

ASUN Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team

KENNESAW, Ga. –
Malik Hussie and Kyle Poole of the Kennesaw State men's track and field team have been named to the ASUN Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic team the conference announced on Friday.

"The men continue to do a great job in the classroom for our program and for themselves," Director of Track and Field Cale McDaniel said. "I am especially proud of the men's team for eclipsing a 3.1 GPA for the first time. I believe this is a great testament to the students doing the work and our staff and support staff working tirelessly to help run a championship program."
 
Hussie carries a 3.65 GPA in international business. Hussie opened the season finishing third at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in a time of 48.47 seconds in the 400m. He ran a career-best time of 10.97 seconds in the 100m at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The sophomore was on the Owls 4x400m relay team that set the school record and qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in a time of 3:10.18 at the UNF Invite. The Newnan, Ga. native ran on the Owls 4x400m (3:12.70) relay team that won the gold medal at the ASUN Championship and picked up a silver medal in the 200m (20.87 seconds) and bronze in the 400m (47.53 seconds). Hussie is competing in the 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships. 
 
Poole has a 3.79 GPA and is a nursing major. The sophomore won the discus at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a toss of 47.20m (154'10"). He landed a career-best toss of 48.36m (158'8") to finish sixth in the discus at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays. The native of Bogart, Ga. finished fifth in the discus at the ASUN Championship.
