Owls Perched in Second After Day One at ASUN Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
 – The Kennesaw State women's track and field team opened action at the ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championship Friday, May 14 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. KSU is in second place after day one of the two-day meet.

Liberty - 104.50 points
Kennesaw State - 31.50 points
Jacksonville - 24 points
North Florida - 12 points
Lipscomb - 10 points
Bellarmine - 4 points
 
Heptathlon (Through four events)
  • Jessica Watkins is in second place having scored 3012 points in the opening four events of the heptathlon.
  • Watkins won the 200m in 25.35 seconds, finished second in the 100m hurdles (14.55 seconds), and was third in the high jump (1.59m; 5'2.50").
  • Kyarra Newton (2827 points), Kywana Donahoo (2722 points) and Ansley Floyd-Jackson (2520 points) are in fifth, seventh and ninth place.
 
Medal Winners
  • Katie Meyer won the 10K in a career-best time of 36:00.86. That time was the 10th fastest in ASUN Championship history.
  • Freshman Faith Bobak ran a career-best time 36:25.98 to finish second behind Meyer in the 10K.
 
Running Event Qualifiers for Saturday's Finals
  • Louise Tocays ran a time of 11.77 seconds and qualified for Saturday's 100m final.
 
Next Up
The Owls will compete on the final day of the ASUN Outdoor Championships beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15.
