Owls Continue ASUN Postseason Run Against FGCU

LEADING OFF
» Kennesaw State, the No. 2 seed in the ASUN North Division, will take on No. 1 South seed FGCU in the ASUN Semifinals on Friday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m.
» The Owls enter their 11th conference tournament Friday, having qualified for postseason play every year since becoming eligible at the Division I level.
» KSU is 12-18 all-time in the conference tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
» KSU defeated UNA in a doubleheader sweep in the ASUN Quarterfinals on Friday, May 7 at Bailey Park.
» The Owls recorded 16 hits and 11 RBIs over both games.
» Brea Dickey went 5-for-5 at the plate over both games against the Lions, logging her eighth home run and 24th RBI of the season.
» Lexi Solorzano recorded 16 putouts and finishing with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
» Dickey, Solorzano, Katie Greep and Faith Alexander each recorded a stolen base on Friday giving the Owls a total of 39 on the season.
» Taylor Cates hit her team- leading 13th home run of the season in game two against the Lions.
» Melanie Bennett posted her third game of the season with double digit strikeouts.
» Cheyanne Sales recorded a season-high four RBIs in game two and collected her fourth home run of the season.
» As a team, the Owls rank tied for first in the league with 10 triples on the year. KSU is ranked second in the conference with 36 home runs, 53 doubles and a .410 slugging percentage. The Owls are ranked third in the league with 177 runs scored and 110 RBIs.

COVID-19 POLICIES
» Attendance at Bailey Park for the ASUN Conference Tournament will be limited to 120, consisting of those on both team's pass list.
» For members of the pass list, please visit the entrance to Bailey Park with your I.D. Seating will be spaced to ensure social distancing amongst fans.
» All fans in attendance at KSU athletic events must observe social distancing and are required to wear face coverings at all times.
» Should there be any remaining inventory from the pass list, walk up ticket sales will be on a first come first serve basis.

PARKING
» If you are attending the 2021 ASUN Softball Championship at Bailey Park or the Kennesaw State baseball game versus Liberty from May 13-16, parking will be available on the 3rd level of the East Deck. Follow the signs in front of the East Deck about parking.
 
IN THE CIRCLE
» Sophomore Melanie Bennett leads the conference with 17 wins, is tied for first with three saves and ranked second with 151 strikeouts this season.
» The Kennesaw, Ga., native pitched her 18th complete game of the season on Friday, giving up one run on three hits while striking out 10.
» Sophomore Lindsey Kyte secured her fifth win of the season in game two against the Lions, giving up just one run on hit while striking out four.
 
IN THE BATTERS BOX
» Dickey leads the Owls offensively with a .377 batting average, a .644 slugging percentage, 11 doubles and scored 34 runs on 55 hits.
» Dickey is ranked third in the conference with a .377 batting average, 55 hits, 11 doubles and two triples.
» Faith Alexander is 12-12 on stolen base attempts this season.
» Junior Cates is ranked second in the league with 13 home runs and tied for fourth with 32 RBIs.
» The Owls have scored a total of 12 runs on 23 hits in their last three outings.
» KSU recorded a season-high four stolen bases on Friday, May 7 against UNA.
 
PLAYING THE FIELD
» All together, the Owls have turned 11 double plays on the year, placing them fifth in the conference.
» Dickey has recorded 68 putouts and maintains a perfect fielding percentage.
» Solorzano is ranked second in the league with 287 putouts.  
» Cates ranks seventh in the league with 77 total assists.
 
FGCU SCOUTING REPORT
»The Eagles are 28-17 overall and 14-7 in conference play.
» FGCU is on a seven-game winning streak, defeating Stetson five consecutive times.
» The Eagles have recorded at least one double over the last seven games.
» Johnesia Rowe leads the Eagles offensively hitting .348, scoring 36 runs on 48 hits.
» Reedy Davenport leads the team recording 27 RBIs this season.
» Marissa Mesimore is the FGCU ace with a 3.27 ERA, a 16-6 record, giving up 74 runs on 137 hits, while striking out 44.

SERIES VERSUS FGCU
»Thursday's game between KSU and FGCU marks the 18th meeting between the two programs.
» The Eagles lead the series 11-6.
» KSU walked it off in a sixth inning run rule victory over FGCU to sweep day one of crossover weekend earlier this season. (April 9)

ASUN PRESEASON POLL
»The Owls were voted second overall in the ASUN preseason poll by the conference's coaches, receiving 67 total points.

POSTSEASON PLAY
» The Owls fell to FGCU 2-0 in the 2019 ASUN Tournament losers' bracket.
» Last year's ASUN Tournament Championship was canceled due to COVID-19, Lipscomb still remains the reigning Conference Champions.
» The Owls are 12-18 overall in the ASUN Tournament.

LOOKING AHEAD
» If KSU defeats FGCU on Thursday they will go on to face the winner of No. 1 North seed Liberty and No. 3 South seed Jacksonville on Friday, May 14 at 3 p.m.
» If the Owls lose to FGCU, they will head to the loser's bracket to take on the loser of the Flames and Dolphins on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
