Owls Tie for Sixth at Sea Palms Invitational

SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State men's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place after the final round of the Sea Palms Invitational on Saturday at the Sea Palms Golf Course.
 
"We got off to a solid start today and had great energy at the turn in second place but lost a lot of shots in the conditions on the back nine," head coach Bryant Odom said. "I am proud of the fight we had and positive attitudes during some extremely challenging weather and course setup. We will regroup and get after it again next week at the Linger Longer Invitational."
 
KSU posted a 21-over par total of 305 to finish in a three-way tie with Wright State and Western Carolina at 31-over par 883. All 16 teams in the field again recorded over-par total scores on Saturday.
 
Takafumi Shimoji fired a 3-over par 75 and finished tied for 15th at 6-over par 215. The sophomore had 11 pars and two birdies during his final round.  
 
Brady Keran and Luke Phillips each recorded rounds of 6-over par 77 to finish tied for 20th at 8-over par 221. Phillips closed his round with pars on 11 of his final 13 holes.
 
Brock Healy fired a 5-over par 76 and tied for 53rd at 17-over par 230.
 
Justin Kim finish tied for 60th at 19-over par 232 for the tournament.    
 
The Owls will head to Greensboro, Ga. to compete in the Linger Longer Invitational co-hosted by KSU and Mercer on March 12-14 at Great Waters Golf Club at Lake Oconee.
