SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. ā The Kennesaw State men's golf team is in a tie for third place after the second round of the Sea Palms Invitational on Friday at the Sea Palms Golf Course.

"Today the conditions got the best of us physically and mentally," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "Strong winds, firm greens and challenging hole locations made for a tough course setup. We compounded errors and it cost us the lead but we are still in a great position for the final round. The conditions are looking difficult again tomorrow so we will regroup and come out with a gritty mentality until the last putt drops."

The Owls carded a 19-over par total of 303 and sit in a three-way tie with Chattanooga and Appalachian State at 10-over par 578. All 16 teams in the field recorded over-par total scores on Friday. KSU sits just three shots behind Jacksonville State who leads the Ā tournament at 7-over par 575 through 36 holes.

Luke Phillips,
Takafumi Shimoji and
Brady Keran are tied for 15
th at 2-over par 144. Keran posted the Owls low round of the day with a 3-over par 74. The senior closed his round with five consecutive pars to shoot 1-over 36 over his final nine holes. Phillips and Shimoji each recorded rounds of 7-over par 78.

Justin Kim shot a 5-over par 76 and tied for 38
th at 7-over par 149.

Brock Healy fired a 4-over par 75 and tied for 60
th at 12-over par 154. Ā Ā

The Owls will conclude play at the Sea Palms Invitational with the final round to be played on Saturday, March 6.
