KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team secured four singles wins to defeat Old Dominion on Thursday afternoon on the Betty Siegel Courts.
 
"Very good effort from the guys today," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "ODU is very well-coached and a perennial Top 40 team so this is a good win for the program."
 
The Monarchs picked up the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The Owls got a win on court one from Sergio Ingles and Seru Tezuka over Younes Lalami and Jannik Giesse on court one.
 
In singles, Raul Garcia got the Owls on the board with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Younes Lalami. Sergio Ingles would give KSU the lead when he beat Tomislav Podvinski 7-5, 6-1. Harvey Conway was pushed to three sets but was able to defeat Jannik Giesse 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 on court six. Kevin Patel won the final two sets of his match and got past Francois Le Tallac on court four to secure the win for the Owls with the score 4-1.
 
"We took some losses early this season by playing a very tough schedule," Emery added. "A lot of the lessons we would normally learn in the fall season we had to learn the hard way in the first half of the spring. The men showed a lot of character and resiliency by not getting discouraged by some tough losses and staying determined to close the margin. We are excited to get back out there tomorrow against a Gardner-Webb that beat us the last time out."
 
The Owls will host Gardner-Webb on the Betty Siegel Courts on Friday, March 5 at 1 p.m.
