JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team is in third place after 36 holes at the Georgia State Invitational at the Rivermont Golf Club on Monday.
KSU posted an 8-over par 296 in the opening round and a 4-over par 292 in the second round for a total of 12-over par 588 after two rounds. Xavier leads the field of 16 teams at 7-over par 583. As a team, the Owls lead scoring on par-5s at 6-under. KSU collected 22 birdies and 119 pars over two rounds of play.
"Today was a marathon day of golf," Interim head coach
Eric Hodgson said. "Sunup to sundown. I am so proud of everyone holding it together all day. We had a lot of great opportunities today and left a few out there but we have another day to get the job done."
Senior
Tai Anudit led the Owls through 36 holes, recording rounds of 69-71 and is tied for second at 4-under par 140. Anudit made 28 pars and six birdies in the first two rounds.
Tori Owens posted a 2-over par 74 in round one and an even-par 72 in round two. Owens sits in ninth place with at 2-over par 146 after two rounds.
In her first round
Alizee Vidal carded a 3-over par 75 and an even-par 72 in round two. Vidal is tied for 10
th at 3-over par 147 after two rounds.
Bella Kil is tied for 40
th at 11-over par 155, while
Lara Jecnik is tied for 49
th at 12-over par 156.
Competing as an individual,
Meva Schmit is tied for 40
th at 11-over par 155 after recording rounds of 76 and 79.
"It will take a lot of confidence on every shot and I think we are up to the task." Hodgson said. "We are in for another exciting day and I am eager to see how we stack up."
The Owls conclude play at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club on Tuesday, March 30 at 8:30 a.m.
