KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team is in second place after 36 holes at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate at Pinetree Country Club on Monday.
KSU posted a 9-over par 297 in the opening round and a 4-under par 284 in the second round for a total of 5-over par 581 after two rounds. No. 5 Florida leads the field of 10 teams at even par 576. As a team, the Owls lead scoring on par-5s at 4-under. KSU collected 26 birdies and 105 pars over two rounds of play.
"Today was a big day for us," Interim head coach
Eric Hodgson said. "We made a lot of birdies and managed our misses well. Mental strength is key to making it through these 36-hole days and we certainly showed that."
Bella Kil leads the Owls through 36 holes in second place at 3- under par 141. Kil shot a 1-over par 73 in round one and a 4-under par 68 in round two. Kil carded eight birdies and 23 pars.
Tori Owens shot a 1-over par 73 in round one and a 3-under par in round two. Owens sits in 3
rd place after 36 holes.
Tai Anudit and
Meva Schmit are tied for 16
th at 5-over par 149. Anudit posted a 4-over par 76 in round one and a 1-over par 73 in round two. Schmit shot a 3-over par round one 75 and a 2-over par 74 round two.
In the first round
Emily Haigwood carded a 16-over par 88 and a 10-over par 82 in round two. Haigwood is tied for 61
st after two rounds.
Competing as individuals, Aliziee Vidal shot a 2-over par 146 and is in seventh place after 36 holes. Freshman
Lara Jecnik is tied for 28
th at 8-over par 152, while
Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman is in 47
th place with a 14-over par 158 after two rounds.
"We've been in a position to win before and I'm looking forward to giving it another run tomorrow." Hodgson said.
The final round of the Pinetree Women's Collegiate is set for a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23.
