» The Kennesaw State softball team opens the month of March taking on Georgia State for their first midweek game of the season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
» The Kennesaw State softball team closed out the month of February with two wins and a loss against Georgia Tech, Miami Ohio and Georgia.
» UGA secured an 8-3 victory over KSU on Thursday (Feb. 25) at the Turner Softball Stadium.
» The Owls defeated the Yellow Jackets for the first time since 2017 in Atlanta, Ga thanks to a two run home run from Taylor Cates that helped KSU secure a 4-1 victory over GT.
» KSU defeated Miami (OH) on their first program meeting at Bailey Park 5-1 thanks to an RBI single from Lexi Solorzano and a three run home run from Taylor Cates in the bottom of the fifth inning.
» Senior Brea Dickey hit .444 with six hits, two RBIs, scored three runs and added a stolen base.
» Junior Taylor Cates leads the Owls this season with four homeruns and 11 RBIs. She also collected her 11^th home run of her career over the weekend.
» As a team, KSU collected 12 runs on 16 hits across three games.
 
IN THE CIRCLE
» Melanie Bennett posted a 2-1 record against UGA, GT and MIA. She picked up two wins against Georgia Tech and Miami (OH). Allowed six runs on seven hits, striking out 11, over 12.1 innings of work.
» Bennett currently leads for the Owls with a 2.78 era, four wins, 40.1 innings pitched and 38 strikeouts. She is 10 strikeouts away from reaching her career high of 48 K's.
 
GEORGIA STATE SCOUTING REPORT
The Panthers are 6-5 overall with losses against Georgia and Georgia Tech. Emily Brown leads GSU with a .378 batting average with 14 hits eight RBIs, a home run and 11 runs scored.
 
SERIES VERSUS GEORGIA STATE
Wednesday's game marks the 31^st meeting between the Owls and the Panthers. The series is tied 15-15. The two teams last met in April 2019 when the GSU posted a 3-2 victory over KSU.
 
NEXT UP
The Owls hit the road taking on Central Florida for a three-game series in Orlando, Fla on March 6-7.
