Owls Travel to Auburn for War Eagle Battle

LEADING OFF  
» The Kennesaw State softball team begins its road trip this weekend when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to compete in the War Eagle Battle.
» Charlotte was slated to play two games against KSU and dropped out of the tournament due to COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within the 49ers program.
» KSU now opens against No. 13 Florida State on Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. EST followed by a double header against No. 22 Auburn at 2 p.m. EST.
» The Owls begin Sunday play against FSU at 11 a.m. EST before closing out the tournament against host AU at 5 p.m. EST.
» All four games will be featured on SEC Network+ and live stats can be found here.

LAST TIME OUT
» The Kennesaw State softball team went 2-1 over the weekend against Lipscomb clinching their first ASUN conference series.
» No. 6 Florida picked up a 10-2 win over KSU at the Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium on Wednesday, March 10.
» As a team, KSU is tied for first in the ASUN conference with five triples, ranked third with 10 homeruns and tied for fifth with 65 RBIs.
» The Owls collected nine runs on 18 hits and nine RBIs over all four games.

IN THE CIRCLE
» Melanie Bennett picked up two wins against Lipscomb and a loss against No. 6 Florida.
» Bennett completed all three games she appeared in last week.
» The sophomore logged 18 strikeouts over all three games while pitching a season-high nine strikeouts against Lipscomb in game one.
» Bennett is ranked second in the conference for strikeouts with 65 on the year.
 
IN THE BATTERS BOX
» Senior Brea Dickey leads the Owls with a .368 average, recording 21 hits including five doubles and three triples, while scoring 14 runs.
» Dickey was 5-for-11 at the plate hitting .455 against the Gators and Bisons. She scored two runs and picked up three RBIs over all four games while collecting her first homerun of the season at UF and a triple and a double against Lipscomb.
» Senior Raleigh Williams recorded a bases clearing triple against the Bisons.
» Cheyanne Sales logged her first home run of the season against Lipscomb to collect the 1-0 decision in game one.
» Brinaya Bailey registered a pair of doubles against the Bisons.

FLORIDA STATE SCOUTING REPORT
» The Seminoles are 13-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play, falling to No. 5 Florida, No. 7 Arizona, No. 16 Missouri and No. 18 Virginia Tech.
» Kalei Harding leads the Seminoles offensively hitting .378, scoring nine runs on 19 hits, collecting eight RBIs and two doubles.
» Caylan Arnold and Kathryn Sandercock are the top pitchers for FSU. Arnold leads with a 1.69 era, four wins on 46.2 innings pitched, giving up nine runs on 19 hits, while striking out 50.
» Sandercock enters the tournament with a 6-1 record, tossing 1.95 era, giving up 17 runs on 44 hits, while striking out 37.
 
AUBURN SCOUTING REPORT
» The Tigers are 16-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play, losing to No. 3 Alabama in three games.
» Lindsey Garcia leads the Tigers with a .412 average, scoring seven runs on 14 hits, logging 10 RBIs, two doubles and a home run.
» Shelby Lowe leads the AU pitching staff with a 0.72 era, 6-1 record and 72 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY
» Saturday's game between KSU and FSU marks the first meeting between the two programs.
» In the last four years the Owls and Tigers have met five times, with Auburn claiming four meetings and scoring a total of 19 runs.
» The Owls secured an 4-1 victory over the Tigers on February 12, 2020 in Auburn, Ala.

» The Owls continue road play against No. 16 Tennessee for a midweek double header in Knoxville, Tenn., starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24.
