AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team is in 14
th place after 36 holes at the Valspar Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club on Saturday.
KSU posted a 16-over par 304 in the opening round and a 7-over par 295 round two for a total of 23-over par 599 after two rounds. No. 2 Duke leads the field of 16 at 23-under par 551.
"We didn't play to our potential today," interim head coach
Eric Hodgson said. "The weather was great for scoring low and we didn't take advantage of our opportunities like we should have. I'm happy with how we followed up our bad round for the second round, but we are still not where we want to be."
Alizee Vidal leads the Owls through 36 holes at 2-over par 146 and is tied for 35
th. Vidal shot a 4-over par 76 in round one and a 2-under par 70 in round two.
Bella Kil shot a 4-over par 76 in round one and a 2-over par 74 in round two. She is tied for 36
th at 6-over par 150.
Meva Schmit posted a 5-over par 77 in the opening round and a 2-over par 74 in round two for a total of 7-over par 151 and is tied for 69
th.
In the first round
Lara Jecnik carded a 3-over par 75 and a 6-over par 78 in round two. She is tied for 78
th at 9-over par 153.
Tori Owens is in 82
nd at 11-over par 155 after two rounds. Owens posted a 6-over par 78 round one and a 5-over par 77 round two.
"We have another opportunity tomorrow but need to capitalize on our good shots" Hodgson said.
KSU will conclude play at the Valspar Augusta Invitational with the final round to be played on Sunday, March 14.
