MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team battled Middle Tennessee to the very end falling 5-2 on Friday (Feb. 5) at the Adams Tennis Complex.
"We put ourselves in a position to win again but just couldn't quite close it out," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "We will learn from both the positives and negatives and come back ready to battle on Sunday against Jacksonville State."
MTSU clinched the doubles point and four singles matches to secure the victory.
KSU won two singles matches against MTSU.
Taylor Dean got the Owls going at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lee Barnard.
Ji Youn Lee followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Muskan Gupta on court three.
Valentina Taddia and
Juliana Castellanos won the first set and dropped the second each falling in the third set 6-1.
Soomin Kim lost the first set 6-2 against Love-Star Alexis and came back to win the second set 7-5, falling 6-3 in the third.
The Owls women's tennis team will host JSU on the Betty Siegel Courts at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 7). Due to COVID-19 protocols, attendance at the Betty Siegel Courts will be capped at 60 fans. Fans are reminded to wear and mask over their nose and mouth at all times.
