EATONTON, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team finished in a tie for fourth after day one of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational on Friday, Feb. 19.
"Today was a tale of two nines," Interim head coach
Eric Hodgson said. "We played well on our front nine and were leading the tournament for a while. Then we hit a tough stretch of holes and made some mental mistakes at the same time which is a recipe for big numbers."
The Owls are tied for fourth place with East Tennessee State and Daytona State College after the first round. KSU posted a 16-over par 304 and was led by
Tori Owens and
Tai Anudit. Owens and Anudit each recorded rounds of 1-over par 73 and are tied for third. Owens carded four birdies and 10 pars on the day.
Alizee Vidal recorded two birdies and is tied for 38
th after she posted a 6-over par 78.
Bella Kil and
Lara Jecnik are tied for 53
rd after both posted rounds of 8-over par 80. Kil carded one eagle, four birdies and nine pars in round one, while Jecnik posted one birdie and 11 pars.
Playing as an individual,
Meva Schmit is in 79
th place after she shot a 13-over par 85.
"We will evaluate, make a few adjustments and come back tomorrow ready to put together a complete round." Hodgson said. "These girls have shown some really good golf and we just need to put it all together."
Teams will begin the second round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 20.
