Owls Hit the Road for Chattanooga Challenge

Tournament Schedule 

LEADING OFF  
» The Kennesaw State softball team continues early-season action this weekend when it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete in the Chattanooga Challenge.
» The Owls (0-3) open against Western Kentucky at 11 a.m. on Friday followed by a double header against Indiana State at 12:30 p.m.
» Saturday's action features KSU against WKU at 12:30 p.m. and meeting host Chattanooga at 5:30 p.m. The Owls will close out play against UTC on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
» The Owls are coming off a series loss against No.15/16 Virginia Tech. VT took the first two games 6-0 and the third and final game of the series by a score of 4-0 over KSU.
» Senior Brea Dickey finished the series with three hits, a .333 batting average, one double, and a stolen base.

WESTERN KENTUCKY SCOUTING REPORT
The Hilltoppers's were 20-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play in 2020. Suffering a loss against KSU fellow ASUN representatives Lipscomb and North Florida.
 
SERIES VERSUS WESTERN KENTUCKY
Friday's game marks the fourth meeting between the Owls and the Hilltoppers. KSU leads the series 2-1. The two teams last met in March 2019 when the Owls posted a 2-1 victory.
 
INDIANA STATE SCOUTING REPORT
The Sycamores were 11-12 overall for the 2020 season before the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19. ISU returns Annie Tokarek who led the team with eight homeruns, a .772 slugging percentage and 18 RBIs.
 
SERIES VERSUS INDIANA STATE
Friday's game will mark the first meeting between the two programs.
 
UT CHATTANOOGA SCOUTING REPORT
The Mocs were 7-14 in 2020 before the remainder of the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. Returning pitcher, Celie Hudson, recorded three wins and seven losses, a 1.92 ERA and struck out 66 players.

SERIES VERSUS UT CHATTANOOGA
KSU and UTC have met twice before. Last time out being February 2019 at the Chattanooga Challenge where the Owls won 7-0.
  
 IN THE CIRCLE
» Melanie Bennett (0-2) got the opening day start for the Owls and suffered the loss in 4.0 innings of work, while Lindsey Kyte was effective in relief, tossing the final 3.0 innings and giving up one run on two hits.
» In game two, Peyton Elzey (0-1) was given the loss. Elzey went 4.0 innings giving up four runs on five hits. While Kristen Davis went 3.0 innings in relief giving up two runs on two hits.
» Bennett got the start for the Owls in the third game of the series and suffered the loss after 5.2 innings of work and three strikeouts, while Kyte was effective in relief, tossing the final 1.1 innings and giving up no runs on one hit.
