KENNESAW, Ga- The Kennesaw State softball team could not get its bats going Sunday afternoon as No. 15 Virginia Tech closed out the series with a 4-0 victory.
How it Happened
It was stalemate for both squads through the first three innings until Virginia Tech's Emma Ritter doubled to right center field to bring home Jayme Bailey, putting the Hokies on the board 1-0.
VT added an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning when Cameron Fagan singled to second base scoring Mackenzie Lawter.
In the top of the fifth inning the Hokies added two more runs with a double down the left field line and a fielding error. Keely Rochard (2-0) went all 7.0 innings, struck out seven Owls, only allowing two hits.

Faith Alexander recorded both of the Owls' two hits. Â
Melanie Bennett got the start for the Owls and suffered the loss after 5.2 innings of work and three strikeouts, while
Lindsey Kyte was effective in relief, tossing the final 1.1 innings and giving up no runs on one hit.
Next Up
The Owls hit the road for the Chattanooga Challenge in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Owls will play Western Kentucky and Indiana State on Friday Feb. 19.
