Owls Collect Six Victories and Set Two School Records in Pair of Meets

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-
The Kennesaw State track and field teams competed at a pair of meets on Friday. 
 
The Owls competed at the Samford Invite #2 while five distance runners competed at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennesssee.
 
School Record Performances
  • Sarah Hendrick broke her own school record in the mile with a time of 4:48.33 at the Music City Challenge 2021.
  • Lindsay Billings ran a time of 16:47.30 to establish a new school record and finish 11th in the 5000m at the Music City Challenge 2021.
 
Event Wins at Samford Invite #2
  • Omar Diaz sprinted to a win in the 60m with a personal-best time of 6.72 seconds.
  • Tyler Blalock won the shot put with a toss of 18.03m (59'2.00").
  • Kelvin Campbell secured a victory in the long jump with a mark of 7.18m (23'6.75").
  • Karl Joeear leapt 14.52m (47'7.75") in the triple jump to grab a victory.
  • Olivia Brown raced to a time of 8.53 seconds to win the 60m hurdles.
  • Jasmine Akins landed a personal-best jump of 5.95m (19'6.25") to win the long jump.
 
Men's Top Performances at Samford Invite #2
  • Aaron Goodwin posted a time of 6.85 seconds to finish runner-up in the 60m.
  • Sparticus Griffin finished in 49.26 seconds to take third in the 400m.
  • Tyriq Hussie was fourth in the 200m meter after running a time of 22.12 seconds.
  • Anthony Harrison had a throw of 16.68m (54'8.75") and Caleb Hartley added a toss of 15.57m (54'1.75") to finish third and fourth in the shot put respectively.
  • David Olusanya recorded a mark of 6.86m (22'6.25") that was good for third in the long jump.
  • Blalock took second in the weight throw with a ASUN Conference leading mark of 18.58m (60'11.50").
 
Women's Top Performances at Samford Invite #2
  • Rachel Van Amburgh secured fourth in the mile with a time of 4:54.03.
  • Britiney Johnson finished runner-up in the 400m in a time of 57.01 seconds.
  • Louise Tocays ran a season-best time of 24.80 seconds to finish fourth in the 200m.
  • Aweng Mawien tied for second in the high jump clearing 1.60m (5'3").
