The Kennesaw State women's basketball team faces off against Furman on Monday, Dec. 5 for its third game against SoCon competition this season.

The Owls' last win came against the conference's Chattanooga, and head coach Octavia Blue will hope to recreate the team's winning ways against the Greenville, S.C. team.

AMAZING AMANI
Team co-captain Amani Johnson is coming off her most valiant game of the season so far, carrying her team with a 19-point, six-rebound performance in a loss against Florida Atlantic.

The Pennsylvanian was relied on heavily, serving 39 minutes on the court. Johnson's 36.63 minutes played per game ranks 21st in the nation.

Head coach Octavia Blue will need to continue putting the ball in Johnson's reliable hands, as the point guard ranks 17th in the nation with a 3.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.

SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman's 5-4 record shows a mixed bag of results, most recently coming off of a 67-58 loss to ASUN competitor Stetson; however,  a look into some of the Paladins' statistics shows some elite numbers.

For example, second chance points are sure to play a part in Furman's offense. The Greenville, S.C. team is ranked second in the nation in offensive rebounds, averaging 18.4 offensive boards per game. They're also one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the SoCon, shooting 59-for-186 (31.7%) from beyond the arc this season.

Tierra Hodges may be one of the fiercest individuals the Owls have come up against this season, as the five-foot-nine guard carries an incredibly rare profile. Despite being a backcourt player, the fifth-year player averages a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double per game.

NEXT GAME
The Owls will return from a short break after the Furman game with a Dec. 17 meeting against Georgia Southern. The Friday-night fight tips off at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center and will be marked by Ugly Sweater Night.
