The Kennesaw State women's basketball team welcomes Florida Atlantic for a Thursday-night game in the first meeting between the two programs in 11 years.
It will be Beach Night in the Convocation Center, as the KSU Athletic staff invites the black-and-gold faithful to don their best Hawaiian shirts and slip on their flip-flops.
AMAZING AMANI
Amani Johnson already reached an important milestone this season with her 1,000th point on Nov. 11 against Georgia Tech, and she's on the eve of another important achievement.
The Pennsylvanian currently sits at 392 career assists, racking up 33 of those dimes in the current campaign.
Considering Johnson has only turned the ball over eight times this season, the team co-captain holds the eighth-best assist turnover ratio in the country with a 4.12.
The current KSU SGA president has given her all for head coach Octavia Blue, serving an ASUN-best 36.34 minutes per game.
STACIE SURGE
Stacie Jones made the most of her 19 minutes off of the bench Monday night at Mercer.
The sophomore shared the team-rebounding lead with seven boards and shot five-for-six from the field for 11 points; both figures were season highs for the forward from Kathleen, Ga.
An ASUN All-Freshman selection last season, Jones will hope she can continue her impressive form against the FAU.
SCOUTING FAU
Six-foot-two forward Amber Gaston is FAU's highest scorer and when you break down her numbers, it's easy to see why. The senior makes many more shots than she misses and sports the 20th-best field-goal percentage in the nation, making 61.2% of her shots.
The Vicksburg, Miss. native has done a stellar job of using her frame to her advantage, leading the team in blocked shots and sitting second among rebounders.
Florida Atlantic gets to the foul line a lot and the Owls have made the most of it. The FAU Owls rank 27th in Division I women's basketball in free-throw attempts and 17th in made free throws. Kennesaw State will need to be wary of fouling the Boca Raton, Fla. team.
FAU has struggled to keep the ball in the team's hands. Head coach Jennifer Sullivan's team ranks 315th in the nation in turnover margin and 326th in turnovers forced. The squad averages 17.5 turnovers per game.
NEXT GAME
The Owls continue their three-game homestand by hosting Furman on Monday, Dec. 6 in the Convocation Center.
