KSU Finishes Fall Season at Mercer Invitational

MACON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's golf program concluded the fall portion of the 2021-2022 season with a seventh-place finish at the Mercer Invitational.

The Owls carded a score of 911 in the tournament and posted the fifth-lowest score in round three.

"We had higher expectations to finish off the fall season," head coach Erin Thorne said.

Bella Kil led the team at 6-over par 222 for the tournament, including a team-low 1-over par 73 in the final round. Kil finished tied for eighth.

Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman, playing as an individual, ended Tuesday's action tied for 20th at 11-over par 227 and drained an eagle on the 12th hole in round three.

"This course is one that requires patience and great speed control," Thorne explained." We had spurts of both all three rounds."

Lara Jecnik, also playing as an individual, finished with a score of 229 and tied for 26th in the tournament.

Both Alizee Vidal and Meva Schmit completed the course tied for 34th with scores of 231.

Cameron Neilson carded a 2-over par 74 on Tuesday, totaling 232 for the tournament.  Tori Owens finished with a final score of 237. Neilson finished 41st while Owens tied for 48th.

"We'll take our time to dig into our strengths and weaknesses to hit the ground running for our spring season tournaments," Thorne said.

The Owls begin the spring portion of the 2021-2022 season on Monday, Feb. 7 at the Texas State Invitational in Kyle, Tex. and hosted by Texas State University.
