KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State midfielder Ebony Clarke was named in the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team, representing the South region in the third team.
I'm thrilled for Ebony and our entire program for this award," said head coach Benji Walton. "It's the fourth time in six years that we've had a representative on this prestigious team and it takes an entire team effort to have a player achieve this honor. It represents the great impact Ebony has made in our team and it's hopefully just a starting point for her."
The Washington State transfer made quite the impression in her first season wearing black and gold, helping the Owls to the ASUN Tournament Final with her five goals and one assist.
The Canadian began to make her presence felt on Sept. 23 in a home game against North Alabama, scoring two goals to secure a 3-0 win in Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
It would be just a week until Clarke's next two-goal performance, as Kennesaw State faced off against a Central Arkansas team that was on a roll in its first ASUN season.
The match in Conway, Ark. was one to remember, a 4-3 win for the Owls that needed overtime to find a winner. It was Clarke who opened the scoring at 1-1 and closed the game as a golden-goal hero.
Clarke would find herself a game winner once again in Fort Myers, Fla., getting on the end of a Kathryn Schreck corner to clinch a 2-1 victory against FGCU.
For her spectacular ASUN debut, the sophomore was named in the all-conference team as a first-team selection.
