The Kennesaw State women's basketball team gets on the bus to travel to Macon, Ga. for a Monday-night matchup against the Mercer Bears.
The two Georgia teams have met a total of 24 times, with the Bears holding a slight 13-11 advantage.
OWLS' BALL
Kennesaw State has done a fantastic job of keeping the ball in its possession, as the program sports the 26th-best turnover margin in the nation.
The Owls turn the ball over an average of 15.8 times per game, but force turnovers at a 22.6 times-per-game ratio.
Leading this charge is KSU phenom Alexis Poole, who currently sits fourth in ASUN rankings for steals per game with 2.8.
KSU'S WORK HORSE
As if Amani Johnson wasn't already working hard enough with her schedule including being an SGA President and an elite-level scholar, the Pennsylvanian has shown that few players have her stamina on the court.Â
The Kennesaw State point guard spends an average of 36.31 minutes per game on the court and no one in the ASUN Conference is making that kind of time contribution.Â
Johnson ranks 34th in the nation in minutes played per game, but she's also helped in her program's turnover margin ranking; the senior boasts the 17th-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the nation with a 3.75.
SCOUTING MERCER
The Bears have put up elite numbers this season, specifically on the defensive side of the ball.Â
The team's considerable size has been conducive for shot blocking, as Mercer has logged 34 blocks on the season so far; this pace places them 20th in the nation.Â
The Bears also find themselves among the top rebounding teams and perimeter-defending teams in Division I women's basketball.
NEXT GAME
After their game in Macon, Ga., the Owls return to the Convocation Center for a December filled with home basketball. It begins with a Thursday-night game against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.
