The Kennesaw State women's basketball team finishes out its short homestand by welcoming Hofstra for the first meeting in the history of the two programs.
The Owls are coming off of their second win of the season and hope to continue the momentum from their 75-68 win against Chattanooga with a post-Thanksgiving win against the Pride.
OWLS' BALL
Kennesaw State has done a fantastic job of keeping the ball in its possession, as the program sports the 20th-best turnover margin in the nation.
The Owls turn the ball over an average of 16 times per game, but force turnovers at a 24.6 times-per-game ratio.
Leading this charge is KSU phenom Alexis Poole, who currently sits atop the ASUN rankings for steals per game with 2.8.
SHAY HAS HER WAY
Redshirt senior Jah'Che Whitfield is coming off the best performance of her season so far, as the guard had a second-half surge Tuesday night against the Mocs.
After being held to two points at halftime, Whitfield scored 13 points in the second half to give her a 15-point, six-rebound statline.Â
The co-captain also recorded two steals on the night.
AMANI'S ASSISTS
Point guard Amani Johnson's playmaking has played a huge part in the Owls' offense, as it's done since 2018.
The Pennsylvanian is second among ASUN players in assists per game with five dimes per 40 and possesses the third-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the conference with 3.12.
The KSU SGA president has also assisted her team with how much time she's put on the court, averaging a 35.8 minutes per game that is included in the top 50 workloads in the nation.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
The Owls will hope that they can dominate the Pride on the glass, as Hofstra is one of the lowest-rebounding teams in the nation.Â
The New York team averages less than 30 boards per game, but not for the want of trying from redshirt senior Jaala Henry. The six-foot-three forward averages 5.3 rebounds per game.Â
Kennesaw State has struggled to defend the perimeter to start the season, allowing almost eight 3-pointers per game; however, the Pride has also found it difficult to be a threat from beyond the arc.Â
Hofstra is 13-for-70 from 3, good enough for 18.6 percent. This rate puts them 342nd in the nation, out of 348 ranked teams.
Senior JaKayla Brown is not only Hofstra's highest scorer with 13.3 points per game, but she also has the fourth-best assist-to-turnover ratio in Division I women's basketball.Â
The guard has doled out 13 dimes on the season and has only turned the ball over two times.Â
NEXT GAME
After playing the Pride, the Owls get on the bus to head to Macon, Ga. and play against the Mercer Bears on Monday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
