The Kennesaw State women's basketball team returns to the Convocation Center court to take on Chattanooga in a Tuesday-evening contest.
The Owls are coming off of a hard-fought fall to a ranked opponent, with No. 22 West Virginia bringing grit out of the KSU team.
Head coach Octavia Blue will search for a way back into the win column amidst a three-game skid against incredibly formidable competition in Georgia Tech, FIU and West Virginia.
POWERFUL PAUL
Forward Yamani Paul was given an opportunity to impress in the Owls' loss to No. 22 West Virginia, receiving a season-high 14 minutes off of the bench.
The sophomore did not disappoint, logging season highs in points, rebounds and assists.
Paul was subbed in with the Owls down 72-45 in the fourth quarter, and began to play to her strengths in the frontcourt.
Over the next four minutes, Paul scored seven-straight points and sparked a late-game surge for her team.
The Norcross, Ga. native will look to ride that momentum to another spectacular performance against Chattanooga.
SAME OLD AMANI
Despite a new coach and a new system, Amani Johnson has continued her reputation as a leader and performer.
The Pennsylvanian has resumed her role as a workhorse, leading ASUN players in minutes per game with 35.8.
Owl fans are already more than familiar with the team co-captain's playmaking acumen, which has not deteriorated in the 2021-22 season.
Kennesaw State's all-time Division I leader in assists currently sits fourth in the conference with 4.5 assists per game.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs have struggled down the opening stretch of their season, but center Abbey Cornelius has done everything she can to prevent that from happening. The SoCon All-Defensive player is a top-five player in her conference in both scoring and rebounding. Specifically on the defensive side of the glass, there is no SoCon player with more defensive rebounds than Cornelius.
The Owls will need to find a way to stop the six-foot-two Tennessean with Cornelius coming off of the highest-scoring performance from a Moc this season, netting 19 points in a 78-55 loss to Murray State.
Sophomore Dena Jarrells is Chattanooga's leading playmaker, averaging 3.75 assists per game. The guard also does her best to disrupt her opposition's buildup, logging seven steals on the season so far; however, the Owls may target Jarrells to prevent the Mocs' play from flowing. Jarrells leads the team in turnovers with 19.
NEXT GAME
The Owls will make a quick return to the Convocation Center after their Thanksgiving family dinners, facing off against Hofstra on Friday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.
