The Kennesaw State women's basketball team returns home to the Convocation Center on Monday night for the first game against the FIU Panthers in program history.

The Owls are looking to take the lessons learned in their Thursday loss against No. 17-in-the-nation Georgia Tech to progress the team back into the win column.

Prior to the 7:30 tipoff, one of the squad's most prolific players will be recognized.

MS. 1000

Thursday night in Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion, Amani Johnson hit a pullup jumper with 7:02 left in the fourth quarter to join a very exclusive club.

The shot put the point guard over 1,000 career points, becoming only the seventh player in the Owls' Division I history to reach the milestone.

The Pennsylvanian is no stranger to capturing important accolades, already stamping her name in the record book multiple times by breaking the Division I KSU career assist record and reaching 150 career steals last season.

Johnson will be recognized before tipoff.

BACK IN THE DEEP END

Alexis Poole has made a spectacular return to the court after opting out of the 2019-20 season.

The Ellenwood, Ga. native currently leads the squad in both scoring and rebounding, logging an average of 13.5 points and 8.5 boards per game.

The team co-captain's rebounding ratio currently sits sixth among ASUN players.

SCOUTING FIU

The Panthers are off to a split start to their 2021-22 season, opening their campaign with a close 67-69 loss to George Mason and are now coming off of their first win against Florida Memorial.

FIU has been no stranger to close games thus far, with both of its games being decided by three points or less.

FIU's win against Florida Memorial was decided by its pair of graduate forwards: Ariel Colon and Emerald Ekpiteta. The two Panthers combined for 41 of the team's 72 points.

NEXT GAME

The Owls will hit the road once again with a visit to the Big 12's West Virginia, taking on the Mountaineers on Friday, Nov. 19 at 12 p.m.
