The Kennesaw State women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in the 2021-22 season, traveling down Interstate-75 to take on Georgia Tech on Thursday night.

The Owls are coming off a historic win against Thomas on Tuesday evening, hitting the century mark for the first time in its Division I history in their 100-31 win.

Kennesaw State is winless in the two teams' 13 meetings, but head coach Octavia Blue will look to make history twice in one week.

Blue returns to McCamish Pavilion after serving as an assistant coach on the Georgia Tech staff from 2009 to 2011.

BACK IN THE DEEP END

After opting out of the 2020-21 season, Alexis Poole came back to the Convocation Center court in style.

The Ellenwood, Ga. native pulled out a double-double performance with 17 points and 12 boards, the first time that Poole has hit double digits in two statistical categories since doing so on Feb. 22, 2020 against Jacksonville.

The senior was doing it all in every area of the court: making moves in the paint, getting first to rebounds and taking charges.

SOPHOMORE SURGE

The sophomore duo of Bre'Lyn Snipes and Jodi Mullins looked like brand-new players under the lead of Blue.

Both set personal-scoring bests in the Thomas win, with Snipes scoring 14 and Mullins 13.

Snipes worked hard in the paint, earning multiple and-ones with her tenacious play; however, the guard from Columbus, Ga. also hit the first 3-pointer of her career.

Mullins heated up in a big way late in the first half, securing the last six points of the period with two splashes from beyond the arch. The No. 13 was the first Owl in double digits against the Night Hawks.

MAKING HISTORY AGAIN?

It's not unusual for Amani Johnson to break records and make news, but it could happen again Thursday night against the Yellow Jackets.

The Kennesaw State SGA President is only nine points away from hitting the 1,000-point mark, which would make the Pennsylvanian only the seventh player in the team's Division I history to hit that point.

Johnson is already the best playmaker for the Owls since they joined Division I, surpassing Kristina Wells' 329 helpers last season in a Feb. 4 contest against Young Harris College.

NEXT GAME

After their short-distance road trip, the Owls return to the nest on Monday, Nov. 15. Kennesaw State's first-ever game against FIU tips off at 7:30 p.m. in the KSU Convocation Center.
