Rounds One and Two Results | Round Three Live Scoring
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State women's golf program sits at the top of the pack after the first 36 holes of the Jupiter Women's Invitational at the PGA Golf Club.
The record-breaking day started in round one, after breaking a program record for a team-low in a par 71 course at 278 strokes, shattering the previous record of 289 set in 2014.
KSU posted a 6-over par 290 in the second round, adding to a 36-hole total of even-par 568, another par 71 team-low record. As a team, the Owls sit in first place and hold a five-stroke lead over Florida Atlantic.
"It was a really special morning with the way [they] played," head coach Erin Thorne said. "There is so much potential with this team."
Cameron Neilson led the way with a 3-under par 68 in the first round and six birdies, followed by an even for par round two. She tallied a 36-hole total of 3-under par 139 and in third place.
Neilson's round one performance broke the program record for lowest individual score for a par 71 18-hole round, previously held by Kaew Preamchuen. She ended up breaking the par 71 36-hole record as well, previously held by Ines Lescudier.
Bella Kil shot a 1-under par 70 in the opening round with an eagle on the 11th hole, her second eagle of the season. She followed it with a 1-over par 72 in the second round, completing day one tied for 5th.
Alizee Vidal went even for par in both the first and second rounds and tallied eight birdies. She also ended day one tied for 5th.
Tori Owens recorded rounds of 2-under par 69 and 5-over par 76 will open round three tied for 10th. Lara Jecnik posted a 6-over par 77 in the first round, followed by an 8-over par 79 score in round two.
"I'm proud of this team for putting [themselves] in a position to win," Thorne said. "There is still work to be done for the final round, but this has put us in a position for what we know we are capable of doing."
The Owls will finish up play with round three on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
