Mercer Gridiron Classic Results
MACON, Ga. –
Kat Muzik and
Daniel Botti each won their singles flights as the Kennesaw State men's and women's tennis teams finished play at the Mercer Gridiron Classic on Sunday.

The women posted a 17-7 record in singles. Muzik went 4-0 to win the singles Flight A title. She clinched the title with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lucie Petruzelova from Charlotte.
Valentina Taddia,
Soomin Kim and
Amulika Gottiparthy each collected three victories in singles action.
Soomin Kim and
Sofia Pinedo paced the Owls in doubles with three wins.

"It was the first tournament for everyone except Kat, so this group has been anxious to finally get out there and compete," assistant coach
Kirsten Lewis said. "These weekends are great for pinpointing areas we need to keep improving upon as a team and it's a positive for them to see what we have been working towards start to come together. Overall, it was another strong weekend with some great performances which will help us build more confidence for the next one."

Botti went 4-0 to claim the title in singles Flight 2B. The sophomore dropped just one set in four matches and finished with a 7-6 (7-2),6-2 win over Edward Tymes of Georgia State. Botti and
Hugo Salmeron teamed up in doubles and closed the tournament with three consecutive victories.

"Overall, it was a very productive weekend," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "This tournament is always very physical with a lot of matches. It was great to see Daniel's game come together and have a breakthrough tournament. He competed like a champion all weekend and it paid off with him taking home the title."

Matthew Terry,
Sergio Ingles and
Harvey Conway combined to go 11-7 in matches against San Diego, UC Irvine and Denver at the Hagerdorn Hidden Duals in San Diego.

The KSU men will be back in action in the ITA Southeast Region Championships Oct. 21-25, while the women will play in the Georgia Southern Fall Shootout Oct. 8-10.
