Neilson Leads Owls to Sixth Place Finish at Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.

The team carded a 16-over par 880 for the tournament, including going even-par in the second round.

"While this wasn't the finish we know we are capable of, we have some positives to take into the final fall event," head coach Erin Thorne said.

Cameron Neilson paced the Owls in this tournament, shooting a 1-under par 215 and tied for eighth with 13 birdies. So far this season, Neilson has finished each tournament either under or even-par.

Alizee Vidal placed tied for 10th, carding an even-par score including 12 birdies. Vidal also finished second on par-3 scoring for the tournament at 2-under par.

As a team, the Owls led the field with 50 birdies, the most they have posted in a tournament this season.

Tori Owens posted the lowest single-round score for the Owls at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, with a 6-under par 66 in round two. She finished with 1-over par total of 217 and in 15th.

Meva Schmit and Lara Jecnik each shot 233 for the tournament. Caitlyn Campbell-Nyman tallied 228 after three rounds in the tournament playing as an individual.

The Owls are back in action on Monday, Nov. 8 for the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga. for their final tournament of 2021.
