KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team is tied for first place after the first two rounds of the Pinetree Intercollegiate which were played at Pinetree Country Club on Monday.
"I am very proud of the fight from everyone today," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We are right where we want to be going into the final round at our home event. Taka and Brock are playing some incredible golf and no better place to show off than at Pinetree Country Club. As good as we played, we have some mistakes to clean up to give us the best chance at winning tomorrow. I know this group will rest up tonight and bring the fight tomorrow."
The Owls carded rounds of 4-over par 292 and 2-under par 286 and are tied for the lead with Arkansas State at 2-over par 578.
Junior
Takafumi Shimoji leads the field through 36 holes at 7-under par 137. Shimoji carded rounds of 4-under par 68 and 3-under par 69 on Monday. He rolled in eight birdies, one eagle and 29 pars during his first 36 holes.
Brock Healy is tied for second at 4-under par 140. Healy opened the tournament with a 3-over par 75 and fired a career-low round of 7-under par 65 in round two. He made five birdies and eagled the 16
th hole during his second round.
Lucas Mota is tied for 30
th at 5-over par 149 after rounds of 74 and 75.
Luke Phillips (78-77) and
Conner Rostowsky (75-80) are tied for 47
th at 11-over par 155.
Ryan Hines shot a 5-over par 149 and is tied for 30
th to lead a group of three Owls who are competing as individuals.
Justin Kim is tied for 39
th at 7-over par 151 while
Joseph Byrne is tied for 61
st at 16-over par 160.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes. All the action can be followed live online at
www.golfstat.com. Play gets underway at 8 a.m. with the Owls set to tee off on the first hole from 8:45 to 9:21 a.m.
