KENNESAW, Ga. – Brea Dickey, Cheyanne Sales, and Taylor Cates were named in the ASUN's All-Conference Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Last season, Dickey finished with a .438 batting average, 15 RBIs, five doubles, four triples, and struck out just three times in her 89 plate appearances. The outfielder ranks sixth in the nation in hits, 48th in average, eighth in triples, 78th in total bases and was the 33rd toughest batter to strike out. Dickey was also named in the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
Sales started 24 games as a freshman, establishing herself as the Owls' first choice at catcher. The Tennessean tallied 24 hits in 70 at-bats, tying for the team-lead with eight doubles and 22 RBI. She boasts a .614 slugging percentage and a .975 fielding percentage, throwing out five baserunners.
Playing primarily in the hot corner, Cates secured an infielder slot in the All-Conference Team. Last season, Cates led KSU with a 1.139 OPS and a .714 slugging mark, tying for the lead in homers (four) and RBIs (22). The Canton, Ga. native swung for a .400 batting average, hitting 28-for-70 in the 2020 season.
Kennesaw State was voted second overall in the ASUN preseason poll by the conference's coaches, receiving 67 total points. Liberty University received the nod as preseason favorite, earning five first place votes and 73 total points.
The first scheduled game of the 2021 ASUN season takes place on March 13, with the Owls slated to start a two-game series against Lipscomb at 1 p.m. EST. The rest of KSU's schedule will be announced soon.
