KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.
– The Kennesaw State men's golf team wrapped up play at the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate at Oak Point Golf Club on Tuesday.

"It was an incredible week," head coach Bryant Odom said. "Four players finished in the top 10 and we did not count an over par score all week. We nearly tied the 36-hole and came close to the 54-hole KSU scoring record on a par-72 course. We have a lot to build on the next few events. A lot of guys played well and everybody was in the mix pretty much everyday so that was encouraging."

KSU recorded a 5-under par 283 in the final round. The Owls finished second with a three-round total score of 24-under par 840. That 840 total score is the second-lowest in program history on a par-72 course.  Coastal Carolina won the event with a 37-under par total of 827.

Connor Coffee and Takafumi Shimoji finished tied for second at 7-under par 209. Coffee fired an even-par 72 while Shimoji registered the Owls low round of the day with a 4-under par 68. Shimoji had an eagle, three birdies and 13 pars during his round. He closed his final round with a 3-under par 33 over his final nine holes. Coffee played his last seven holes of the round at 2-under par.

"Takafumi and Connor fed off each other and played some unbelievable golf," Odom said. "Takafumi had a great round today which included opening with an eagle. Those two guys have a lot of fire power. When they play like that the team is going to play well."

Brady Keran and Brock Healy tied for seventh at 5-under par 211. Healy carded a 1-under par 71 while Healy added an even-par 72. Keran led the field with 42 pars in the three-day event.

Freshman Luke Phillips recorded a 1-over par 73. He finished tied for 30th at 5-over par 221 in his collegiate debut.

Preston Topper shot his low round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 1-over 73. He finished tied for 42nd at 9-over par 225.

The Owls return to action February 6-7 in Florence, South Carolina at the Raines Company Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion at the Country Club of South Carolina.
