KENNESAW, Ga. – Following a four-year career with the Kennesaw State women's basketball team, former standout Carlotta Gianolla has signed a professional contract to play for Nico Basket Femminile in Italy.

Gianolla begins her professional career after scoring 1,131 points and pulling down 580 rebounds during her career as an Owl. She was named the unanimous ASUN Conference Freshman of the Year in 2016-17 after averaging 11.7 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

"I am very proud of Carlotta as she made history today as our first professional women's basketball player," said head coach Agnus Berenato. "When we recruited Carlotta, we spoke about her getting a quality education and improving her skills to sign a professional contract. These things came to fruition and my staff and team could not be prouder of her. Her new team is getting an extremely hard worker who will lead both on and off the court. It has been Carlotta's dream to play professional basketball and to do it in her home country of Italy is wonderful. I know everyone at KSU extends sincere congratulations to her as she enters the next phase of her career."

She scored a career-high 29 points against Jacksonville University as a freshman and against Mercer University as a senior. She hauled in a career-best 14 rebounds against NJIT as a rookie and recorded her 1,000th career point against FGCU during her senior campaign.

Gianolla was named to the 2017 ASUN All-Tournament team as a freshman and earned ASUN Newcomer of the Week three different times during her rookie season. She is a two-time ASUN All-Academic award winner and was named the Dave Waples Total Person Award winner during the 2020 Owls Choice Award.

During her tenure at Kennesaw State, Gianolla led the Owls to two ASUN Tournament victories.
