KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State track and field teams collected a pair of postseason awards after both teams finished runner-up at the ASUN Indoor Championships last weekend the conference announced Saturday.
Tanner Duffin was named ASUN Most Outstanding Men's Freshman Performer while
Olivia Brown was named ASUN Most Outstanding Women's Freshman Performer.
Duffin scored 14 total points for the Owls at the ASUN Championship and was the top scorer among freshmen men in the event. He was second in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 17.38 (57-0.25). That mark was third best in the ASUN during the indoor season. The Geneva, Illinois native secured the bronze medal in the shot put with a mark of 18.27m (59-11.25) and Duffin became the fourth Owl since 2006 to be named ASUN Most Outstanding Men's Freshman.
Brown won the gold medal in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.55 seconds. She also won the 60m hurdles preliminaries in a time of 8.63 seconds. The Guyton, Georgia native joined
Jocselyn Powell as the only Owls to have won the gold medal in the 60m hurdles. Brown's honor marked the fifth time an Owl has taken home the ASUN Most Outstanding Women's Freshman Performer Award.
Brown and Duffin open their outdoor season on March 20-21 at the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
