CLARKSTON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Georgia State on Friday.
"We played another great doubles point to get up 1-0," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "The energy on all three courts was awesome, and we did a great job of closing when we got up. We got outplayed a little bit in singles in tough conditions. Tina (Vlajic) and Aspen (Jarrett) had solid performances again in singles. We are excited to host Penn State tomorrow."
The Owls took control of the match early winning the doubles point. KSU got a pair of 6-2 wins from
Taylor Dean and
Paola Cortez and
Tina Vlajic and
Aspen Jarrett at No. 1 and No. 2.
After dropping her opening set, Vlajic bounced back and won the final two sets against Aleksandra Stromova 5-7, 5-4, 10-7 to clinch the Owls lone point in singles.
Aspen Jarrett fought hard at No. 6 before falling in a third-set tiebreaker to Denisa Gheorghe 6-3, 3-6, 10-6. The Panthers won five singles matches to grab the victory.
The Owls women's tennis team will host Penn State on the Betty Siegel Courts at 12 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 7).
