Owls Set to Face Georgia State and Penn State This Weekend

Match Preview
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team heads to Clarkston on Friday to face Georgia State and returns home on Saturday to host Penn State. The Owls, who have defeated ASA Miami and UNC Asheville in their previous two matches, will look to win three consecutive matches for the first time since 2017. If KSU is to win on Friday and Saturday, it would give the Owls four consecutive wins for the first time since 2012.   

Scouting Georgia State
The Panthers are 2-8 this season. GSU has lost its last to matches two Liberty and North Florida who KSU will face later this season.
 
Scouting Penn State
The Nittany Lions are 3-4 this season. Samantha Smith paces PSU with an 8-4 record in singles play.
 
The Series
Friday's match will be the fifth meeting between the two programs. Georgia State leads the series 4-0. The teams have not met since 2014. PSU and KSU will meet for the first time on Saturday.
  
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 win over UNC Asheville for their second win of the season at the Betty Siegel Courts on Sunday (Mar. 1). The win gives KSU back-to-back victories for the first time since April 2018.
The Bulldogs won the doubles point. Taylor Dean and Paola Cortez were up 4-3 when the point was clinched.
KSU won five singles matches against the Bulldogs. Sofia Pinedo got the Owls going in singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rosie Dickson at No. 5.  Dean followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lize Alet Morkel at No. 1. Aspen Jarrett pushed the Owls lead by one securing a 6-3, 6-2 win over Anastasia Hovart at No. 6. Tina Vlajic lost the first set 3-6 against Emily Sidor and came back to win the second and third set 6-0, 6-1 to extend the Owls lead and clinch the match for the Owls.
Cortez won the first set 6-4 and lost the second set 7-5 to Ami Grace Dougah. The freshman would come back and defeat Grace Dougah 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2.

The Owls head to Alabama to Jacksonville State on Wednesday (Mar. 11) at 11 a.m. EST.
