KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 win over UNC Asheville for their second win of the season at the Betty Siegel Courts on Sunday (Mar. 1). The win gives KSU back-to-back victories for the first time since April 2018.
 
"We are just so proud of the effort put forth by everyone today," seniors Aspen Jarrett and Elle Baker said. "It has been a rough week dealing with rain delays and cancellations but today that didn't show in any performances. We are also super proud of Sofia (Pinedo), who got us our first win on the board, Tina (Vlajic), who won her first clinch and Paola (Cortez), for winning her first match of the season."
 
The Bulldogs won the doubles point. Taylor Dean and Paola Cortez were up 4-3 when the point was clinched.
 
KSU won five singles matches against the Bulldogs. Sofia Pinedo got the Owls going in singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rosie Dickson at No. 5.  Dean followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lize Alet Morkel at No. 1. Aspen Jarrett pushed the Owls lead by one securing a 6-3, 6-2 win over Anastasia Hovart at No. 6. Tina Vlajic lost the first set 3-6 against Emily Sidor and came back to win the second and third set 6-0, 6-1 to extend the Owls lead and clinch the match for the Owls.
 
The Bulldogs Laura Watson-Steele secured the only singles win against KSU 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.
 
 Cortez won the first set 6-4 and lost the second set 7-5 to Ami Grace Dougah. The freshman would come back and defeat Grace Dougah 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2. 
 
The women's tennis team will travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia State Friday (Mar. 6) at 11 a.m.
