STATESBORO, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 4-3 decision to Georgia Southern on Sunday morning.

"Today was one of the proudest moments I have had since taking this job," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "For the first time, we watched them compete with zero fear of losing. They truly embraced the battle and weren't afraid to leave everything out on the court with no excuses. We came up just short, but we had some huge breakthroughs in this match and are getting better each match. We  are not concerned about our record, or we wouldn't have scheduled the way we did. Our entire season is about getting better each match and peaking at the end of the year, and we are definitely doing that."
 
The final three singles matches were finished on Sunday after rain postponed the match with Georgia Southern leading 3-1 on Saturday.
 
Aspen Jarrett defeated Elizabeth Goines 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 to cut the lead to 3-2. Tina Vlajic secured a victory over Arianne De Winter 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
 
The Owls will play at Davidson on Wednesday (Jan.12) at 3 p.m.
