ORLANDO, Fla. - Newest member of KSU women's golf team Alizee Vidal moved up three places in the rankings, as the UCF Challenge wrapped up its final round on Tuesday.
"This is a disappointing team finish for our first spring event, we had some very good individual rounds but collectively we fell below our standards," said Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "This was a very deep field and an opportunity to gauge our play against the nations best. We clearly have work to do. I'm confident this is the reality check we need to regroup and refocus on our next spring event. Alizée had a strong first event and topped it off with an even par 72 today. I'm also proud of Tori for putting together her best spring round with 73."
On a course with a par 72 and 6,349 yards, the Owls ended the tournament in 15th place in a field that includes #3 Kent State, #13 Michigan State, #14 Illinois, #15 Oklahoma State, Purdue, Iowa State, Penn State, NC State, Miami, College of Charleston, Old Dominion, Sacramento State, UNCW, and ECU.
The Owls posted a collective 294 (+29), their best stroke total for any of the three rounds. Vidal shot even par on the day (72), as she ended her tournament total with six strokes over-par. She shot birdies on round 17 and round 18, and ended the UCF Challenge tied for 51st place.
Tai Anudit had another impressive day on the links, shooting one over-par in the third round (73) bringing her three-day total to one over-par. She shot birdies on holes 4, 7, 11 and 18; Anudit ends the tournament tied for 33rd place, the highest ranking of any Owl in the tournament.
Tori Owens had a solid final round, as she shot one over-par for a 73 bringing her three-day total to 16 over-par. She shot birdies on holes 1, 5 and 6; Owens closes out the tournament in 83rd place.
Meva Schmit (76) tied for 77th with a four over-par performance on day three, and Clara Aveling tied for 80th with a 78 (+6) to close out her tournament.
