LYNCHBURG, Va.-
Alexis Poole reached the 1,000 point milestone against Liberty Monday night as Kennesaw State fell to 9-11 after a 76-66 defeat versus Liberty.

No one could question the Owls effort, as they cut a 23-point fourth quarter Liberty lead down to seven, but Kennesaw State fell just short.
"I am proud of the comeback effort our ladies had tonight. This is a good team and we did not have an answer for Green in the first half," said Head Coach
Agnus Berenato. "Our post collectively got us in foul trouble and it hurt us."

The Owls battled tough to begin the contest against Liberty, trading baskets back-and-forth with the Flames. The Kennesaw State offense was diverse as

Gillian Piccolino,
Simina Avram and
Carlotta Gianolla each had a basket within the first six minutes of the game. KSU found themselves down 18-8 at the end of the first frame.

The game tightened in the second quarter when KSU put together a 7-0 run to close the gap to 22-17.

Liberty followed the Owls run with a 12-0 run deep into the second frame and took a 36-19 lead with under a minute to go in the half. The Flames ended the half scoring four of the last seven points and sat on a 40-22 lead at the break.

Both teams netted 18 points in the third quarter and the Owls trailed 58-40 heading into the third quarter. In the quarter, Poole thrived and scored 10 points, needing just three points in the fourth quarter to reach her 1,000 point milestone.
"The second half was more intense as we picked up our defense and competed to come within seven points in the fourth quarter," Berenato said. "It was a great effort by our ladies to stick with it and not hang their heads or give up."

With 6:26 to go in the fourth quarter, Poole netted her 1,000
th point as an Owl at the free-throw line.
"Congratulations to Alexis for reaching 1,000 points. I am super excited for Alexis. She has put the time in and this is a great accomplishment," said Berenato.

Kennesaw State cut the lead to seven points after a 14-0 run which included two 3-pointers from
Breanna Hoover, but the Owls fell 76-66.
