KENNESAW, Ga.
 –  The Kennesaw State baseball team evened up the weekend series against Pennsylvania with an 8-1 victory Saturday afternoon behind an impressive day from the Owl's pitching staff.

KSU (5-5) took an early lead off a solo shot over the right field fence by Alex Carballo in the bottom of the second. Penn's (1-1) offense was held in check for most of the day as the Owls' pitching staff gave up a combined five hits while fanning 11 total batters.

Marcerio Allen busted the game open for KSU in the fourth inning with a bases clearing double to right center field to put the Owls up 4-0.

The Owls scored three more runs in the seventh inning off of a well rounded offensive attack thanks to RBI singles from Carballo and Ryan Smith and a sac fly from Tyler Simon to score Tyler Tolve from third.

Freshman Nick Hassan continued his great year at the plate going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Hassan is now hitting .474 on the season with nine hits and six RBI's in just six appearances.

Jared Rine (1-0) had a career day on the mound going for 5.0 innings while giving up just one hit and no earned runs to get his first win of the season. Rine also set his career high in strikeouts with seven.

Braydon Eidson came in for relief of Rine in the sixth inning and had a solid showing of his own. Eidson held the Quakers scoreless for three innings and gave up one run in the ninth with the game already well in hand for the Owls. Eidson gave up just four hits and struck out four batters.

The Owls look to take the series against Pennsylvania tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium.
