Owls Looking To Complete Season Sweep of NJIT

KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Kennesaw State women's basketball team returns home Saturday afternoon looking for a season sweep of NJIT for the second time in the last four years.

Top Storylines
• Kennesaw State faces NJIT for the 11th time in program history Saturday afternoon as the Owls look to get back on track in the final homestand of the season.

• The Owls are 9-1 all-time against the Highlanders and are looking to complete an ASUN regular season sweep of a team for the seventh time under head coach Agnus Berenato

• Kennesaw State has wrapped up a spot in the upcoming ASUN Tournament and would be the No. 7 seed if the tournament started today. The Owls can finish as high as No. 6 but cannot fall below No. 7.

• KSU defeated NJIT 77-64 earlier this season as Carlotta Gianolla and Amani Johnson dominated the game and combined to score 51 points and add six steals.

Amani Johnson needs just one more assist to reach 100 on the season. She ranks second in the ASUN in assists per game at 3.8 and has dished out an assist in 21 straight games.

• Kennesaw State has taken advantage of its trips to the free-throw line this season. The Owls rank 11th in the country from the line and lead the ASUN at 77.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Alexis Poole continued her stellar junior season last week, recording her seventh 20-point effort of the year. She ranks 22nd in the country in field goal percentage, draining 56.9 percent of her shots.

• A trend that continues from last season, Amani Johnson rarely gets taken off the court. This season, she is averaging 38.8 minutes per contest, which ranks fourth in the country. She has played 40 minutes in a game 11 times this year.

• During the summer, it was announced that the Owls were ranked No. 20 in the WBCA Academic rankings. The Owls were the sole program in the ASUN to receive the honor as well as the only program in the state of Georgia to be recognized on the list. KSU ended the season with a 3.54 GPA.

• This past fall, the team achieved a GPA of 3.37, as all ten student-athletes were above a 3.0 GPA with four student-athletes on the Dean's list.

Noting NJIT
• NJIT has been eliminated from the ASUN Conference Tournament with a 1-13 record in league play. 

• The Highlanders have lost four straight games, including 17 of their last 18 contests.

• Danielle Tunstall leads NJIT at 13.0 points per game, and 8.9 rebounds per contest to go along with 41 blocks.

• Tunstall has recorded 19 double-doubles in her career, including nine this season. Her 8.9 rebounds per game ranks No. 3 in the ASUN. 

• The Highlanders rank last in the ASUN in scoring, averaging just 55.0 points per game, while leading the league with 19.0 turnovers per contest.
