LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Kennesaw State men's track and field team competed on the first day at the ASUN Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship Friday, February 28 at the Liberty Indoor Track and Field Complex.
Team Scoring
The men's team is in second place after day one of the championship with 34 points. Liberty leads with 58 points.
Combined Events
Men's Heptathlon (Through four events)
Scott Simpson occupies sixth place with 2316 points. He finished fourth in the 60m with a time of 7.42.
Medal Winners
Kelvin Campbell posted a mark of 6.94m (22'9.25") to secure third in the long jump.
Tyler Blalock landed a toss of 18.31m (60'1") and
Tanner Duffin had a throw of 18.27m (59'11.25") to finish second and third in the shot put.
The distance medley relay team of
Mekhi Williams,
Koi Williams,
Sparticus Griffin and
Cameron Paulk took home the bronze with a time of 10:06.48. That time established a new school record in the event.
Running Event Qualifiers for Saturday's Finals
DJ Akindele (8.05) and
Colin Wainwright (8.50) all advanced to the 60m hurdle finals.
Omar Diaz (6.85),
Tyriq Hussie (7.01) and
Jordan Hewing (7.02) advanced to the 60m final.

"The men showed a tremendous amount of grit and battled from start to finish. We had numerous guys with personal bests and a new school record in the men's DMR was a great way to cap off the night!"
