ATLANTA, Ga. – A sixth inning home run led Georgia Tech to a 2-1 win over Kennesaw State on Wednesday night at Mewborn Field.Â

The Owls threatened in the top of the second inning with a single by
Jade Lee and a double by
Lexi Solorzano, but the Yellow Jacket pitching staff forced a ground out and a strikeout to end the inning.

After a single by
Katie Greep loaded the bases, KSU struck in the top of the fourth as
Christen Florence scored off a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.

The Jackets earned their first hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth, but
Faith Alexander made the grab at short to end the threat.

Georgia Tech took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning off a two-run home run, giving the Ramblin' Wreck a 2-1 lead.

Greep was able to draw a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh, but the Owls were unable to score, ending their seven-game win streak.

Melanie Bennett earned the loss, dropping her record to 2-2 on the season. Bennett went 6.0 innings, allowing three hits, two runs and walking two while striking out five.
