ASUN Release
KENNESAW, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced its 2021 softball conference schedule Wednesday with Kennesaw State slated to host four series at Bailey Park.
The Owls, who saw their 2020 season cut short due to COVID-19, did not play a conference series last spring. KSU posted an impressive 21-4 record, the best in the ASUN, and was 13-1 on its home field. The Owls ended the season on a four-game win streak at the Colorado State Classic, including a victory over Purdue to mark its fourth win against Power 5 competition that season.
The ASUN's nine teams are separated into two divisions this spring, with the North Division consisting of Bellarmine, Lipscomb, Liberty, North Alabama and Kennesaw State while the South Division includes FGCU, Stetson, North Florida and Jacksonville.
Each of the North Division teams will play each other at least once while playing two South Division teams in a crossover game. The South Division teams will play each other twice while playing two games against a North Division team. All divisional games will be a three-game series.
KSU opens 2021 ASUN play against Lipscomb on March 13-14 at Bailey Park. The Bisons went 12-10 last spring with wins over Duke, UNC, and Marshall.
With a bye weekend scheduled March 20-21, KSU then hits the road for North Alabama March 27-28, and Liberty April 2-3. The Lions were 16-7 in their first season as an ASUN member, while the Flames went 10-13 with wins over Michigan, Ole Miss, and ECU.
New this season, KSU plays host to a crossover division weekend April 9-11. The Owls play FGCU Friday, April 9, and take on Stetson and Lipscomb Sunday, April 11.
KSU gets its first look at conference newcomer Bellarmine in a road series April 17-18. The Knights are coming off an 11-9 campaign.
The Owls close the regular season with a pair of home series against UNA April 24-25, and Liberty May 1-2.
KSU's non-conference schedule will be announced soon.
