Owls Head To The Sunshine State For Bout With UNF

KENNESAW, Ga.- Kennesaw State women's basketball is looking for back-to-back wins when the squad journeys to Jacksonville, Fla., for a Saturday tilt versus North Florida.

Top Storylines

• Kennesaw State is looking for its first win over North Florida since Feb. 18 2017, a 52-48 win in Jacksonville. 

• The Owls are coming off an exciting 59-56 win over North Alabama. Alexis Poole carried her squad with 19 points and 10 rebounds, which helped her earn the ASUN Player of the Week award.  

• Carlotta Gianolla has been unstoppable in conference play so far this season. The senior is averaging 13.3 points per contest to go along with 5.0 rebounds. 

• 3-point shooting has been an issue for the Owls all season (ranked 303rd in the NCAA), but Breanna Hoover has been the lone star, shooting 46.7 percent in conference play. 

• Kennesaw State has taken advantage of its trips to the free-throw line this season. The Owls rank 13th in the country from the line, shooting at a 77.2 percent clip. 

• Alexis Poole has been incredible so far this season for Kennesaw State. She ranks 38th in the country in double-doubles with eight in the 18 games that she has played. 

• Poole is efficient from the floor, as she is shooting 59.5 percent, a figure that leads the ASUN and ranks 12th in the country.

• One of the Owls' keys to victory this season has been rebounding the basketball. When Kennesaw State out-rebounds opponents, the Owls are 8-1 so far this season. When KSU is outrebounded, the Owls are 1-8.

• Amani Johnson has displayed incredible vision this season for the Owls. The sophomore ranks first in the ASUN in assists per game (4.0), which ranks 130th in the country. 

• A trend that continues from last season, Amani Johnson rarely gets taken off the court. This season, she is averaging 38:59 minutes per contest, which ranks fourth in the country.

• During the summer, it was announced that the Owls were ranked No. 20 in the WBCA Academic rankings. The Owls were the sole program in the ASUN to receive the honor as well as the only program in the state of Georgia to be recognized on the list. KSU ended the season with a 3.54 GPA.

• This past fall, the team achieved a GPA of 3.37, as all ten student-athletes were above a 3.0 GPA with four student-athletes on the Dean's list

Noting North Florida
• North Alabama comes into the contest with a 12-8 mark and a 5-2 record in conference play. The Osprey's have dropped games to just FGCU and North Alabama in conference play. 

• UNF is coming into the contest on a three-game winning streak, beating Jacksonville, Lipscomb and Liberty.

• North Florida is led by Janesha Green, who is netting 13.5 points per game and is shooting at a 40 percent clip behind the arc.
