Match Preview
The Kennesaw State men's tennis hits the road again traveling to Birmingham, Alabama taking on the Samford Bulldogs on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Scouting Samford
Samford is currently 1-2 this season, collecting a win over Presbyterian and a pair of losses to Mississippi State and Alabama. Samford was 11-10 overall and 3-4 conference falling to Wofford 4-3 in the SoCon Tournament in the 2018-19 season.
 
College Roommates Set to Faceoff
Kennesaw State's director of tennis Matt Emery and Samford's men's tennis head coach Rahim Esmail were college roommates and teammates from 2001-2004 at the University of Kentucky. Emery and Esmail played for Emery's father Dennis at Kentucky.
 
The Series
Saturdays match will mark the third meeting between the two teams. The Owls fell 5-2 at Samford on Jan. 21, 2018. 
 
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State men's tennis team fell 8-1 to No. 19 Georgia Monday on the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Courts at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
 
UGA won the match by collecting the doubles point and all six singles matches. Two extra singles matches were played with each team winning one to bump the final score to 8-1.
 
Harvey Conway beat Sam Dromsky 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) in an extra singles match to claim the Owls lone point of the day.
 
KSU got strong efforts in main draw singles from Bryan Triana and Sebastian Osorio. Triana took No. 57 Trent Bryde to three sets before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. Osorio came up on the short end of a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Tyler Zink.
 
Next Up
The Owls travel to Statesboro to take on Georgia Southern on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. ET.
