KENNESAW, Ga. – The Owls swept the ASUN Conference weekly awards as
Paris Williams,
Tyler Blalock and
Tanner Duffin collected the ASUN Track, Field and Freshman of the Week awards announced on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
Williams recorded a time of 7.72 during the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles at the Clemson Invitational. His time of 7.72 seconds tops the ASUN, is fifth in the NCAA this season and established a new school record. He won the 60m hurdles final with a time of 7.73 seconds and was eighth in the 200m finishing in 22.05 seconds. This marks the third time Williams has been named ASUN Track Athlete of the Week.
Blalock collected a victory in the shot put with a toss of 18.02m (59'1.5") which established a new school record. That toss leads the ASUN and ranks 35
th in the NCAA this season. . The junior took second in the weight throw with a mark of 15.42m (50'7.25").This is his second ASUN Field Athlete of the Week Award.
Duffin took the victory in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 17.10m (56'1.25"). That throw leads the ASUN. He finished second to Blalock in the shot put after he landed a throw of 18.00m (59'0.75"). This is his second ASUN Freshman of the Week Award.
The Owls will travel to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Kickoff on Jan. 24-25.
