TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The Kennesaw State women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 7-0 loss to Alabama on Sunday (Jan. 19) inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.

Alabama won the doubles point and six singles matches to win the match.

 "We took some huge steps forward as a team today," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "Our doubles are getting better each match and we were only a couple points away from getting the doubles point today. Across the board, the women left everything out on the court today. When we compete like we did today, we can play with any team in the country. The women are starting to recognize that and  is going to make us a very dangerous team going forward."

Brenna Reilly and Elle Baker fought tough at the No. 3 doubles position before losing 7-5 to Luca Fabian and Jacqueline Pelletier. Tina Vlajic and Aspen Jarrett were trailing 5-3 in the tiebreaker to Alba Cortina Pou and Sasha Gorchanyuk when the doubles point was clinched.

In singles, Paola Cortez won her opening set 6-4  before falling 6-0, 6-2 in the final two sets on court two. Taylor Dean and Tina Vlajic both fell in straight sets in tough matches.

The Owls will travel to Clemson, SC to face Clemson on Saturday (Jan. 25) at 3 p.m.
